Individual Jobsite Evaluations and Training
Jobsite assessments require more than a casual observation of workers’ biomechanical positioning and movement patterns. Although some improvement can be accomplished by observation of the untrained eye, to properly assess the jobsite risks associated with RMIs and CTDs, the assessor should have extensive training in biomechanics. TruFit Ergonomics believes proper jobsite and worker assessment requires vast knowledge of potential musculoskeletal pathology and postural adaptations that occur as a result of poor or non-optimal positioning of workers’ in their workstations. Therefore, TruFit Ergonomics partners with licensed, practicing orthopedic physical therapists to perform ergonomic consulting services. Our therapists utilize their knowledge and skill of treating workers with musculoskeletal pathology and apply it to the preventative side of management. We individualize workers’ ergonomic evaluations by critically observing how employees interact with their workstations. Because of our therapists’ mastery of musculoskeletal pathology, we provide immediate corrective measures and recommendations which minimizes risk and exposure to RMIs and CTDs. Our evaluations include individualized training to aid workers in recognizing the pitfalls of poor posturing and work habits, which contributes to musculoskeletal issues and potential injury. Also, being experts in biomechanical motion, Our therapists provide employee training on workstation postures, repetitive motion issues, beneficial break / work cycles, and RMI / CTD prevention techniques. Providing this training is instrumental in minimizing effects of RMIs and CTDs, resulting in fewer missed work days and improved productivity.
Follow-up Visit
During the follow-up visit, TruFit assesses workers verifying adherence to previously recommended posturing and assesses workstations determining if recommended equipment has been supplied to the employee. If a worker has reverted back to their prior posturing or is having continued ergonomic challenges, TruFit reassess the worker’s workstation. In reassessing we make additional, immediate, onsite corrections as applicable. With the employee we will then: 1) review recommended posturing and handouts originally provided to ensure employee understanding, 2) discuss the potential health impacts of improper ergonomic posturing and movements. The ensures the worker understands and values the necessity of preventative measures taken which helps mitigate discomfort and potential risks of RMIs and CTDs.
